Wolves to avoid same problem as Leicester City in crunch relegation clash
Wolves look set to have a new manager in charge before this weekend’s crunch clash with Leicester City.
Acting quickly following the decision to sack Gary O’Neil, Wolves are hoping to appoint Vitor Pereira as their new boss within the next 24-48 hours, according to Sky Sports. They say a broad agreement has been reached over compensation with his current club Al Shabab.
Negotiations continue with Pereira but it looks likely he will be in the dugout at the King Power Stadium on Sunday. The Wolves players return to training on Tuesday and if the deal to bring in Pereira continues at its current pace, they won’t be without guidance for long.

City will hope there are hitches in the deal so as to disrupt Wolves’ preparation for what is a crucial game at the bottom. City are so far undefeated in matches against their rivals in the bottom seven, but failure to beat Wolves, combined with a win for Ipswich over Newcastle, will see Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side sit in the bottom three at Christmas.
Wolves’ quick work to bring in Pereira means they won’t have a game with a caretaker manager in charge, as City did. Under the guidance of Ben Dawson and the interim coaching team, City lost 4-1 to Brentford, with van Nistelrooy only in the stands. They only got their new manager bounce a couple of days later, beating West Ham 3-1.
Pereira brings a wealth of experience with him, the Portuguese 20 years into his managerial career. He won titles at Porto and Olympiacos while also had spells with Fenerbahce and Brazilian sides Corinthians and Flamengo. The 56-year-old joined Al Shabab in Saudi Arabia in February this year.
