Yeovil Town need to be ruthless after FA Trophy exit to Weymouth
Yeovil Town manager Mark Cooper has warned it’s time to be ruthless after the Glovers crashed out of the FA Trophy at the hands of derby rivals Weymouth on Tuesday night.
The original tie was postponed on Saturday due to Storm Darragh, and it was Weymouth who ultimately prospered with a goal in either half from former Yeovil striker Brandon Goodship proving enough to win the game 2-1.
Aaron Jarvis had equalised before half-time, but the Glovers were left to rue another performance of missed chances in the attacking third.

Speaking after the game, Cooper said that they had let the fans down and it was now time to be ruthless with his strikers who are failing to fire.
He said: “We should score six, seven, eight goals but that’s been the story of our season. We’re not ruthless enough in the final third of the pitch, we give away two goals but we still should do enough in and around their penalty area.
“If we keep going like that then we’ll win one, lose one, draw one, lose one because we can’t put teams to bed.
“We’re hitting people up the backside with the ball when we should be putting it on somebody’s head.
“We’re trying to have a touch in the six-yard box when we should just side-foot it in the goal, or we’re not brave enough - Jar [Aaron Jarvis] was brave, scored his goal, could have had two or three - but we should win the game tonight on territory and chances created.
“Lack of professionalism for both goals, individual errors, but that’s football. That’s why we’re at this level, cause we make mistakes, me included, but we still should win the game. Fair play to Weymouth, they dug in and set their stall out and defended their box.
“We’ve got to change some players.
“There’s some now that have had lots of chances and not producing, so the attacking players have to produce and they’ve had enough chances to do that and they haven’t, so some difficult decisions and I have to try and solve that issue.
“I’ve been really loyal to the boys, I love them to bits, but I have a job to do for the football club and that’s to try and make us more efficient in front of the goal, because our play from tee to green is really good.
“We get in the opposition’s last third lots and lots of times really calmly and then the last little bit, where you need a bit of quality, is not there.
“We had five up front for the second half, so lots of balls going in the box.
“He [Jarvis] scored a great goal, brave, but I will say there were some opportunities there today, so yes a real tough one to take and I’m really angry with that.
“I have to be ruthless now cause that’s a slight on me that tonight and we let the fans down tonight. Fans have been brilliant again tonight, got behind the players.
“Always look at yourself first, I pick the right team, I’ve tried every combination at the top of the pitch but, yeah, time to be ruthless.”
