Bath Rugby have announced that Welsh centre Louie Hennessey has signed a contract extension at the club.

Since signing for Bath in June 2022 from Cardiff Rugby, the centre has gone from strength to strength, seeing him pick up international honours for Wales U20 and he has now signed a long-term contract extension with the Premiership side.

Hennessey, 18, made his Bath Rugby debut against Gloucester, and has since gone on to make ten appearances to date in Blue, Black and White, including two tries last weekend against Bristol Bears in the Premiership Rugby Cup is something of a breakthrough display.

Hennessey got his first international appearance for Wales in the nation’s U18 set-up, progressing on to feature for Wales U20 in two U20 Six Nations campaigns. Hennessey graduated from the University of Bath last year, with a Foundation Degree in Sports Performance.

Bath head of rugby Johann van Graan, said: “I am very happy that Louie is continuing his journey with Bath Rugby. He is an exceptional talent and his hunger to improve is an attribute Louie has, which I love in a player.”

Hennessey added: “I’m happy to be extending my time here at Bath Rugby. I’ve loved every minute since I joined and I’m excited to see what the future holds for me individually and collectively as a group.”

Last week Bath confirmed that England U18 full-back Sam Winters has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The 17-year-old will complete his A-Levels at Harrow School, where he is studying Geography, Business and Photography, before joining up with the club permanently next summer, with plans to continue his education at the University of Bath.

Winters was a member of the all-conquering Harrow School side that won both the Daily Mail Schools Trophy and Continental Tyres National Schools Cup last season, in a side that also featured fellow Bath Rugby Academy players Kepu Tuipulotu and Charlie Griffin.
