Young footballers – including one with broken arm – take on challenge for hospice
A YOUTH football team from Ringwood have paid a visit to a children's hospice to get an insight into its valuable work to help families within the community.
The u12 Panthers team from the girls' section of Ringwood Town Football Club are now backing Julia's House to make a positive difference through fundraising efforts.
The charity works to provide life-changing support for families with life-limited children in Dorset and Wiltshire.
Their visit to the hospice in September had a “real impact” on the girls, “deepening their understanding of the challenges faced by others”, the team said.
On October 12, a group of Panthers laced up their running shoes to take part in the Run Bournemouth 5km Supernova race.
A spokesperson for the football club said: “This vibrant event was not just a test of endurance as many had not run that distance before, but it showcased the girls' commitment to their cause.
“The event proved to be even more inspiring when one of the team members, undeterred by a broken arm, still took part, reflecting the true spirit of the Panthers.”
The Panthers have already raised more than £1,000 for Julia's House this season.
