Ange Postecoglou's Tottenham side are in action for the final time in the 2023/24 season when they face Newcastle United on Wednesday. Although the team's Premier League campaign came to an end last Sunday as they recorded a 3-0 win away at Sheffield United, Spurs have one more game remaining on the calendar after arranging a post-season friendly against the Magpies.

The game takes place on the other side of the world, with the sides meeting at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia. The decision to play a post-season friendly Down Under has drawn plenty of criticism, especially due to the fact it is a whistle-stop tour for the Spurs squad as they immediately return to the capital after the game.

As a number of players from both teams will be involved in Euro 2024 or the Copa America this summer, they will be looking to come through the 90 minutes completely unscathed and with a clean bill of health ahead of the major tournaments. Amid all the criticism surrounding the fixture, Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Rob Guest is joined by Lee Wilmot, football.london's head of football, to talk about the friendly encounter in Melbourne.

Given Tottenham are without a few first-team stars in Cristian Romero, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Giovani Lo Celso, the pair also discuss the players who could feature at the MCG and the young players who could be involved after making the trip. Dejan Kulusevski's role in the team is also a talking point after he took on a slightly different position in Tottenham's attack in Sunday's 3-0 win over Sheffield United.

Ryan Sessegnon's future is also on the agenda in the latest episode of the podcast as Tottenham have informed the player that they will not be taking up the option to extend his contract beyond the current campaign. Injuries have disrupted the left wing-back's Spurs career and he is now facing a pivotal summer as he looks to get back to featuring week in, week out after his injury torment.
