Arsenal make David Raya transfer decision as Ivan Toney stance clear

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has confirmed that he expects David Raya to complete a permanent move to Arsenal in the summer transfer window after a successful loan spell. The Spaniard joined the Gunners on a season-long loan from Brentford last summer and has been a key player for Mikel Arteta this season. His performances in goal saw him win the Premier League’s Golden Glove.

Arsenal have the option to make the move permanent for a reported £27 million fee. Arteta, however, refused to confirm the club’s stance on a summer move when asked at the start of the month.

Raya has also spoken about his future, outlining his hope of extending his stay with the club. He did, however, say that a permanent move was not up to him.

Frank is now the latest person to address what could happen to the goalkeeper in the summer transfer window. And the Brentford boss seems confident that he will not be returning to the Gtech Community Stadium.

“That I'm more clear on,” he told the Daily Mail. “He will be in Arsenal. They will be more than happy to have him, and I don't expect anything else than they will trigger that option.”

The Brentford boss also spoke about the future of star striker Ivan Toney. Earlier in the season, Frank admitted that the England man would ‘probably be sold’ this summer, putting Arsenal as well as their rivals on red alert.

“He's a Brentford player right now and I'm the coach and I love to have the best players so I would love to have him in the club,” he said. “But there's a lot of rumours and he's a very good player.”
