Arsenal are backed to search for a new attacker in the summer with centre-forward being one of a few areas potentially being targeted.

Gabriel Jesus has not quite been the star striker that was hoped for while Eddie Nketiah could be on his way out having remained on the bench for the past five matches and failed to start a Premier League game in 2024.

Kai Havertz has done well with 13 goals and seven assists this season but is not seen as a natural forward but rather a deep-lying threat. A number of names have been linked with a summer move including Ivan Toney and Ollie Watkins.

Mikel Arteta could choose to look further afar and into the Bundesliga where RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko has had a brilliant end to the season. His 18 goals have helped his club earn Champions League football once more.

The attacker has been linked with a Premier League move as a result, despite only swapping RB Salzburg for Leipzig last summer. Sesko’s agent was spotted at Old Trafford last week to watch Arsenal beat United, stoking more rumours about a potential move to the Gunners.

Sesko scored a magnificent long-range effort in his team’s final day 2-2 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday as Leipzig secured fourth, ahead of Champions League finalists Borussia Dortmund in fifth.

The 20-year-old fired an effort into the roof of the net from 25 yards just seconds after half-time to put his side 2-0 up. It means that the attacker has scored or assisted in each of his last 13 Bundesliga games, a run that stretches back to January.

The streak comprised two assists and 11 goals, two of which came against Bayern Munich and Dortmund. Goals against such teams will have attracted the attention of onlookers, especially in light of his frequent output.

Arsenal have been linked with Sesko while AC Milan are also being connected. Given his age and contract length of four years, the attacker would not come cheap.
