Euro 2024 Golden Boot race could end in SIX-way tie, Uefa confirm

UEFA have confirmed that the Euro 2024 Golden Boot will be shared by six players if neither England striker Harry Kane nor Spain's Dani Olmo score in Sunday's final.

Kane and Olmo are among the players currently tied on three goals, along with the Netherlands' Cody Gakpo, Germany's Jamal Musiala, Georgia's Georges Mikautadze and Slovakia's Ivan Schranz.

Unless Kane or Olmo add to their tallies in Berlin, the award will be shared rather than determined by another metric such as assists or minutes played.

Kane equalised from the penalty spot in Wednesday's semi-final against the Netherlands and scored the winner against Slovakia in the last 16 as well as notching in the draw with Denmark during the group stage.

No other European player in history has scored more goals in knockout games at major tournament finals than the England captain's nine, and he previously won the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

RB Leipzig midfielder Olmo has now scored in three successive matches for Spain, netting the fourth off the bench in their 4-1 comeback win over tournament debutants Georgia in the last 16 before getting a crucial equaliser in the 2-1 victory over hosts Germany in the quarter-finals after replacing the injured Pedri.

He started and scored again to quickly equalise against France in the semi-finals, having also assisted Mikel Merino’s last-gasp extra-time winner against the Germans and Ferran Torres’ early winning goal against Albania in the group stage.

Midfield duo Fabian Ruiz and Jude Bellingham enter Sunday’s final having registered two goals each so far at the tournament.
