'You think it's funny' - Arsenal star fuming after Bournemouth win despite Premier League title boost

Gabriel

Gabriel Magalhaes has expressed his frustration over seeing his stunning goal in Arsenal's 3-0 win over Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

The Brazilian defender fired a ferocious first-time finish into the top left corner in the 86th minute of the match, only to see his effort ruled out for offside after wheeling away in celebration.

In doing so, this denied Gabriel his fifth goal of the season. Mikel Arteta's side would still find a third strike of the match, however, with Declan Rice popping up moments later to make sure of all three points.

Taking to Instagram after Saturday's win, Gabriel wrote: "We continue to fight until the end!! Thank you gunners for your incredible support!!" The 26-year-old also shared an image of himself celebrating his goal, with frustrated face emojis to highlight his disappointment at the decision.

The 26-year-old then shared an image of Jorginho laughing at him, with the following message translated from Portuguese: "You think it's funny, don't you?"

Gabriel's disallowed goal may also have come as an annoyance to Arteta, who is fully aware Manchester City are doing everything in their power to reclaim top spot. The Premier League title could end up being decided by goal difference, ensuring every finish in the final third is of significant importance.

The Gunners currently boast a goal difference of +60, bettering City's tally of +54. The Sky Blues have been slowly chipping away at Arsenal's advantage in this department, having scored four plus goals in three of their last four league fixtures.

Commenting on how he feels regarding the title race, Arteta told reporters on Saturday: "Very excited. We've done it for nine and a half months now. There's two weeks to go, we really want to get it done. We're closer than we were yesterday and hopefully we can bring the title here."
