Reguilon transfer call made, Ndombele absent, Rodon play-off masterclass - Tottenham loan latest

Sergio Reguilon played his final game for Brentford on Sunday as they lost to Newcastle

There are now only a few Tottenham players remaining out on loan with the 2023/24 season shortly coming to an end. While the Premier League campaign drew to a close on Sunday with Man City crowned league champions and Tottenham securing a place in next season's Europa League, there is still a further round of games to be played in some European leagues.

Troy Parrott's loan spell in the Netherlands will also go on for a further week as Excelsior Rotterdam are involved in a relegation play-off in the Eredivisie. Although the league season did come to an end for Alfie Devine and Ashley Phillips at Plymouth Argyle a couple of weeks ago, the duo could well feature for Tottenham once again on Wednesday morning as they have been named in Ange Postecoglou's 24-man squad for their post-season friendly against Newcastle United in Melbourne.

But how exactly have those still out on loan fared over the past week? football.london takes a look below.

Tanguy Ndombele (Galatasaray)

Tanguy Ndombele was absent from the squad on Sunday as Galatasaray lost 1-0 at home to fierce rivals Fenerbahce. A huge match for the Turkish club with the opportunity to sew up the league title against the fellow challengers, Caglar Soyuncu scored the only goal of the contest as 10-man Fenerbahce claimed a priceless three points.

The result means that the Turkish league title goes down to the final game with Ndombele and Galatasaray just needing one point away at Konyaspor to regain their crown. That will very likely be Ndombele's last game in a Galatasaray shirt if he is to feature in the match.

The midfielder has played a total of 661 minutes across 26 games in all competitions since heading to Turkey from Tottenham last summer.

Djed Spence (Genoa)

Djed Spence was back in the Genoa team on Sunday as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat away at Roma. In and out of the starting XI following his switch to the Serie A club in January, the 23-year-old played the full 90 minutes at the Stadio Olimpico.

Spence's final game of his loan spell comes on Sunday when Genoa host high-flying Bologna at Stadio Luigi Ferraris. The right-sided player has so far made 15 appearances for the Italian club, with eight of those coming from the start and seven of those from the substitutes' bench.

Sergio Reguilon (Brentford)

Sergio Reguilon's Brentford loan deal has now come to a conclusion following the end of the 2023/24 Premier League season. Starting on the final day as the Bees hosted Newcastle, the left-back played 74 minutes of the contest as the west London club lost 4-2.

Reguilon unfortunately had a part to play in Newcastle's third goal of the afternoon as he was dispossessed by Jacob Murphy leading up to Alexander Isak's well-taken strike. The ex-Real Madrid man's loan spell with the Bees proved to be a big success as he got plenty of minutes in the tank and went on to register four assists in 16 appearances.

Ahead of the Newcastle game, Brentford confirmed on the club's official website that the player is returning to Tottenham following the end of his loan.

"Sergio was the perfect player at the perfect time for us," said director of football Phil Giles. "It was a loan that, at best, would suit both parties and that is exactly the way that it has turned out.

"Sergio has enjoyed being with us and played a significant number of minutes which will set him up well for next season, wherever that may be."

Alejo Veliz (Sevilla)

Alejo Veliz was back on the pitch for Sevilla on Sunday as they fell to a 2-0 defeat away at Athletic Bilbao. Barely getting a chance in the team since swapping Spurs for Sevilla in January, the 20-year-old was introduced in second-half stoppage-time at San Mames.

Previously an unused substitute in the last two games, Veliz's latest outing takes him to five appearances in total for the La Liga club, playing just the 29 minutes in the process. The frontman's last opportunity to play for Sevilla comes on Sunday when they host Barcelona at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.

Troy Parrott (Excelsior Rotterdam)

Fresh from hitting a double in Excelsior Rotterdam's 4-0 win over Heracles, Parrott went into Sunday's game against Feyenoord in confident mood but his team were defeated 4-0 at De Kuip. It was a match that saw incoming Liverpool boss Arne Slot bid farewell to Feyenoord after a very successful time in Rotterdam.

Even though it was the final game of the Eredivisie season, Parrott and Excelsior Rotterdam still have two more games left to play as they are involved in a relegation play-off after finishing the term in 16th. Den Haag are their opponents over two legs with a place in the 2024/25 Eredivisie at stake.

The first game at Den Haag takes place on Wednesday evening, with the return leg at Excelsior on the calendar for Saturday night. Following such a good loan spell with the Dutch club, Parrott will be intent on going out in style and ensuring that they remain in the Dutch top flight next season.

Joe Rodon (Leeds United)

Joe Rodon and Leeds United are now just one game away from a Premier League return. The West Yorkshire club hit Norwich City for four goals last Thursday and will now take on Southampton in the Championship play-off final.

A pivotal figure at the back for Leeds in the first leg at Carrow Road as the sides played out a 0-0 draw, Rodon was again influential as Daniel Farke's side won 4-0. In Leeds Live's player ratings, Rodon was one of seven players to come away with a score of nine out of 10.

They wrote: "Commanding and set the tone with some massive interceptions and tackles in the first half, deep in the away half too. Never put in bother. So important for snuffing out danger and getting possession moving forward again."

Leeds now face a big week as they prepare for Sunday's showdown at Wembley Stadium. If indeed Leeds do go up and earn a £170million cash boost as a result of winning promotion, it may well lead to a permanent transfer to Elland Road for the Welsh international after such a successful season.
